August "Augie" Divito

August "Augie" DiVito, CLU, MSFS, age 94, passed away on July 11, 2024, in Westlake, Ohio. Born on August 30, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was a respected member of the community and a proud veteran of the Army.

Augie graduated from West High and later attended Kent State University. His career accomplishments were many, from his beginnings as a teacher at Collinwood High School to his role as a General Agent with Columbus Life Insurance Co., and ultimately founding what is now Investment Planning Group but he was particularly proud of his designations as a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and a Master of Science in Financial Services (MSFS).

He is survived by his daughters, Cathie Sudnik (Phil) and Donna DiVito; his son, Chris DiVito (Nancy); and his cherished grandchildren, Kelly Sudnik, Kevin Sudnik, (Krista) Jonathan Jereb, Alex DiVito (Samantha) Kendra Streicher (Matt), Carly DiVito, and Anthony (AJ) DiVito. Augie also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Flora Sudnik, Cole Sudnik, August (little Augie) DiVito, and Ryan Streicher. He was preceded in death by his beloved spouse, Jane DiVito, RN; his parents, Joseph and Mary DiVito; and his brothers, Louis DiVito and Joseph DiVito.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Research, in memory of Jane DiVito, supporting a cause that was close to his heart. His legacy of service, to his community, as well as his generosity and dedication to his family, will be remembered by all who knew him.

Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 33601 Detroit Rd., Avon, Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. Please meet at church. Interment following at Holy Trinity Cemetery. Family and friends received at THE RIPEPI FUNERAL HOME, 5762 PEARL RD. (AT SNOW RD.) MONDAY from 3-7 p.m.
