BERNARD JOSEPH “PETE” BUCHEIT, JR., 89, of Cleveland, OH, passed away on February 15, 2021 of natural causes. He was born in Youngstown, OH on January 9, 1932 to Bernard “Ben” Joseph Bucheit, Sr. and Florence “Flossie” (nee’ Joyce). He was president of the Bucheit Companies in Youngstown, OH where he oversaw local, state and international construction projects from 1968 until his retirement.
Pete graduated from Boardman High School in 1950 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Notre Dame University in 1954. As a member of Youngstown Country Club, he was an avid golfer, enjoyed traveling for both business and pleasure and was always known as the life of the party. Pete embraced life and met challenges with integrity and a never quit attitude.
He is survived by his loving wife Ruth Ann (nee’ Bierdeman); sons Kurt of Hubbard, OH and Erich of St. Paul, MN; daughter Leisel of Washington, DC and granddaughter Emma of Hubbard, OH. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
He was preceeded in death by both parents, sisters Marilyn “Mogie” Mahoney and Joyce Courtney, his nephews Donald Mahoney, Jr., John Mahoney and Michael Jaminet and his former wife Patricia (nee’ Jaminet).
He will be fondly remembered by many life-long friends and all who loved him.
