Bernhard “Bernie” Fischer, Jr.

November 24, 1955 – April 22, 2025

Bernhard “Bernie” Fischer, Jr., of North Olmsted, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on April 22, 2025, surrounded by the love of family and close friends. He was 69.

Born to Bernhard Fischer, Sr. and Vija Fischer (née Elglitis), both of whom preceded him in death, Bernie was one of five siblings. He is survived by his older sister Sandra (Sandy) Fischer and younger brother Wilhelm (Willie) Fischer and his wife Amy. He was preceded in death by his sisters Rita Mason and Wendy Wise (Mike, living).

Bernie was married to the love of his life, Moyra (née Shepherd), for nearly 40 years until her passing in 2022. Together, they raised a beautiful and close-knit family, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience. He is survived by his five children: Eric (Tanja), children Chloe and Colin, Jeremy (Renee), children Tyler and Mackenzie, Adrienne (Eli), children Justin (Kaitlyn), Terrel, Braylon, and Eli, Lindsey (Brendan), and Leah. Bernie was also a proud great-grandfather to two, Jocelyn and Kinsley; and beloved uncle and great-uncle to so many.

His lifelong best friend of over 60 years, Raymond “Ray” Tatro, remained by his side through life’s many chapters and was with him in his final moments; as were many of his lifelong friends.

As the owner and operator of Northbrook Refrigeration, along with business partner Frank Friedrich, Bernie faithfully served the Cleveland community for many years, building trusted relationships with customers and businesses alike.

Bernie was known for his unwavering generosity, deep loyalty, and genuine kindness. He touched countless lives and formed friendships that endured decades. A passionate and talented musician, Bernie found joy and solace in his guitar—often baring his soul through music and bringing joy to those lucky enough to listen.

Above all, Bernie was deeply loved—and he will be deeply missed. His spirit lives on in the family he cherished, the friends he stood by, and the music he left behind.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at 1 p.m. at 23774 Mastick Rd., North Olmsted.  This will be a casual event with the option for camping and swimming.  The family asks that guests bring a favorite dish and their own beverages.  We will be hosting one last weekend at Bernie's to honor his legacy.
