CATHERINE MARY SMYTH
Sadly, after a difficult battle with cancer, Catherine Mary Smyth (Jung) passed away peacefully on October 6th, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones.
Born, April 30, 1957, in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, to Erno Jung and Terezia Pinezits (Frank Rabensteiner) who immigrated from Hungary. The Jung Family soon moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where they raised their beloved children Cathy (Kati) and Otto. Cathy went on to join the U.S. Army in 1978 where she met and fell in love with Peter Smyth, and married just a few weeks later.
They had three daughters, Nikki, Kathleen, and Stephanie. Cathy was a loving mother who raised her girls to be strong, hardworking women. She loved coffee, cooking, baking, shopping with her grandkids, traveling, going to the casino with Pete, and chatting with girlfriends at the kitchen table. Cathy was a fiercely dedicated Registered Nurse for over three decades. She devoted so much of her life caring for patients all over the U.S. and made many lifelong friends along the way.
Now that Cathy has passed into the arms of our Lord, we remind ourselves that while this is the end of her physical life on Earth, it’s the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her. Cathy joins her parents, her beloved brother Otto, and her soul sister Susie Lackofi. She leaves behind her devoted husband Peter Smyth, her three daughters Nicole (Allan Velez), Kathleen Orellana, Stephanie (Justin Bastian), and five grandchildren, Allan and Maya Velez, Leila, Sofia, and Ryan Orellana, many loving family members near and far, and countless friends.
Mass of Christian Burial at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 5891 Ridge Rd., Parma, OH, Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. Immediately followed by a Celebration of Life Luncheon at THE RIPEPI COMMUNITY CENTER, 5784 PEARL RD. (AT SNOW RD.), PARMA.
