Daniel P. Walsh

Daniel P. Walsh, Sr., 87, passed away June 11, 2025, in Cleveland, Ohio. Dan was born on July 8, 1937, in Cleveland. He married Kathryn Zimmerman on October 12, 1963, and they were married for 61 years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth (O’Driscoll); his father, Michael Walsh; his brothers, Thomas, Michael, and Anthony Walsh; his sister, Elizabeth Constantino; and his aunt, Brigid Mulloy.

Dan is lovingly remembered by his children, Eileen, Daniel Jr. (Molly), Nora Katzenberger (Kim), and Erin Connell (Daniel), as well as his grandchildren, Caroline, Griffin, Maura, Shannon, Bridget, and Cate.

After his mother’s passing, Dan and his brothers were raised at Parmadale Children’s Village until age 14. After being raised by nuns, including his house mother, Sister Anna, Dan entered Brunnerdale Seminary.

Following his time at the seminary, Dan graduated from Cathedral Latin High School, joined the U.S. Navy, became fluent in Russian, and served in Naval Intelligence until 1959. He used to joke that during his entire time in the Navy, he was never on a ship.

He went on to pursue a career in accounting and finance, working for several manufacturing companies in Cleveland. In 1995, he founded Harp Enterprises, which sold and serviced equipment to bakeries throughout Northeast Ohio. He also served on the Parma City Schools Board of Education.

Upon retirement, Dan devoted his time to being a beloved “GrandDa,” helping the people he held most dear in his life, as well as strangers on the street, while cultivating a lawn that was the envy of his neighbors.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at Normandy Senior Living Memory Care and Dan’s hospice caregivers. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Red Cross of Northeast Ohio.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 23, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ripepi Funeral Home, 5762 Pearl Road, Parma, Ohio 44129.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 24, at 10:30 a.m., at the Church of St. Dominic, 3450 Norwood Road, Shaker Heights, Ohio 44122. Burial to follow at Lake View Cemetery, 12316 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44106.
