David Edward Rush, 58, passed peacefully at Parma Hospital under the care of Hospice of the Western Reserve.
David, son of the late Judith (nee Thomas) and Ronald Rush, dearest brother of Rebecca (Dale) Williams, Christian (Sandy) Rush and Amy (Curtis) Baughman. Adored uncle of Ronnie (d), Ethan (Rachel), Kaitlin (Nathan), Emily, Collin (Sarah), Tyler (Lauren), Christopher (Mari), Logan and Jacob. Great uncle of Jason (AJ), Aaliyah, Wade and Owen, and great-great uncle of Magnus. Loving nephew and friend. David loved his family and friends with all his heart.
David was born in Parma, Ohio. He attended several different schools in the Parma School District and completed his schooling at Parma Senior High, class of 1985. From the get-go Dave was a hard worker. As a kid he had many paper routes, then moved on to Midtown McDonalds flipping burgers and then onto several accounting jobs, finally landing on something that would become a passion, logistic specialist for International Metal Supply. In his 30’s, Dave would help his father and brother-in-law on weekends selling produce at the markets. All along the way he made great friends and created lasting memories.
Dave retired from his profession in April 2021, due to his Myotonic Dystrophy diagnosis.
AKA “Sports Grunt”, Dave had a love for sports. When growing up in Seven Hills he loved playing baseball, wrestling in junior high, and running biathlons and working out with friends in his late teens early 20’s. Dave had a passion for collecting baseball cards that started in the early 1970’s. He would go to games and meet the players of the baseball and footballs teams, so he could have them sign his cards.
Dave had a bit of gruffness at times, but also full of humor. Deep down he had a kid’s silly, goofy, joking heart. He enjoyed long conversations about sports and knew all the stats. Dave loved his nieces and nephews so much. He never missed a birthday or celebration of their successes. He was immensely proud of all of them, attending their sporting events and cheering them on.
Dave has left us with many hilarious stories to remember him. Now he walks with Jesus and rejoices!
