DELPHREY “DEL” G. DOERNER (nee Kennedy), age 81, of Westlake, beloved wife of 50 years to the late Kenneth G. Doerner, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, June 21, 2017. She was born December 20, 1935 in Kinston, NC, to Percy Clyde and Cora Smith Kennedy (both deceased). Del came from a family of eight brothers and sisters and seven half brothers and sisters. Upon graduating from high school in 1954, she moved to Cleveland where she began working for the U.S. Navy Finance Center. She later worked for the Cleveland Society for the Blind and the Ohio Department of Education, from where she retired in 1995. She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and kept a keen eye on politics and world events. In her younger years, one of her many talents was the ability to whistle so loud that she could be heard a mile away. This came in handy when it was time to call her three children home for dinner or chores. Del is survived by her daughter Gail Larrow (Robert); and sons Kenneth and John; her grandchildren, Christian Demko (Kelly); Leah Samaniego (Rudy); and Allison Doerner, as well as her great-grandchildren, Lana Crowell; and Manny and Alex Samaniego. She is further survived by her sister, Dorothy Deluise of Kinston, NC and her cherished sister-in-law, Marian Banno, as well as numerous family and friends. Contributions may be made to the Cleveland Sight Center, 1909 E. 101 St., Cleveland, OH 44106.
