Listen to Obituary

DENISE ELLEN FASHIMPAUR passed away Friday, August 3, 2018. Denise was 59 years young; beloved daughter of the late Norman and Ellen (nee Shaughnessy); a very special sister of David (Roberta), Suzanne Quintile (Mark), Karen and Daniel (Bridget); dear aunt of David, Eric, Kelly, Amanda, Megan, Nicole, Marcus and Devin; great-aunt of Hailey; niece, cousin and friend to everyone.  She accepted challenges that life presented to her at an early age and persevered.  After high school, Denise went on to business school training and then worked for the Federal Government for over 20 years.  She was an avid volunteer, who loved her roles at Southwest General Hospital and Light of Hearts Villa. “Little Fighter”…. Denise’s long, 7 month hospital journey ended this past week at home, and she is now at peace in Heaven. During her very difficult journey, she continuously remained positive.  She touched the lives of everyone who cared for and treated her.  At times, she could not see, speak nor barely hear and yet she NEVER complained.  Denise only saw the good in others and she would cheer us up on a bad day by writing compliments and words of praise via her IPad and white board. “Believing in God and Jesus, all things are possible”….  Her faith in God was paramount.  Even in her most difficult times, she never strayed from her faith.  “Number one fan”…Denise was an avid Cavs and Indians fan.   She loved to watch and attend games.  During her hospitalization, she never missed a game on TV and would text us the scores from her iPad. “Caring for her best friend”…Prior to her hospitalization, Denise also took care of her best friend, our Mom, who passed away last year.  Our Mom would tell us that Denise is “special, she just can’t hear well”.  Everyone who had the privilege to know Denise, knew that she was on a “different level of being” that goes beyond special.  “Thank you”…Thank you, Denise, for showing and teaching us faith.  Thank you for showing and teaching us how to love.  Thank you for showing and teaching us kindness.  Thank you for showing and teaching us compassion.  Thank you for showing and teaching us perseverance. Thank you for being an inspiration.  Thank you for believing.  Most of all, thank you for being OUR favorite sister and best friend. We brought you home as we promised. We love you, forever.  The family suggests contributions to The Light of Hearts Villa, 283 Union St., Bedford, OH 44146.  Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Church, 7367 York Rd., Parma, Monday, August 6, 2018 at 10 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.  Friends received at RIPEPI FUNERAL HOME, 5762 PEARL RD. (AT SNOW RD.), SUNDAY 2-6 P.M.
