DONALD EDWARD CARAVONA of Westlake, Ohio peacefully left us on April 11, 2023 at the age of 76.
Don was born on June 15, 1946 and lived life to the fullest.
Don is survived by his wife Annette, daughters Megan (Daniel) and Courtney (Aaron), brother David (Jackie), grandchildren Arden, Blaire, Griffin, Cecelia, Callista, Daniel and Dorothy, niece Brandyce, nephew Chance, and stepsons Bennett (Sara) and Alex.
Don loved life and returned to his maker and loved ones who predeceased him in death. They include his mother Frances, father Angelo “Lou,” brother Dale, sister in-law Debbie, and his nephew Brandon.
Growing up in Parma, Ohio, Don excelled in athletics. He was stand out basketball and football player at Valley Forge High School and was inducted into their Hall of Fame. Don went on to attend college at John Carroll University where he starred in basketball, and both lead the team in scoring and was named as an All-Conference player from 1966-1968. He was inducted into the John Carroll University Hall of Fame in 1983.
After college, Don attended Cleveland Marshall College of Law and thereafter began what would be a legendary legal career as a trial attorney lasting for over forty years. Don represented thousands of clients and their families with vigor and compassion. His successes included some of the largest personal injury verdicts and settlements of their time. Don’s courtroom flare was something found today only in movies and television.
Don was an avid golfer and a longstanding and beloved member of the Elyria Country Club. But far more important than him playing golf, Don made lasting friendships that became an extension of his family. In fact, any new place Don walked into he would undoubtably have left making a new friend.
Above all else, Don loved his family. He cherished being “Papa” to his seven grandchildren, and his enormous personality was only outmatched by his incredible generosity and devotion to his loved ones.
Don Caravona was truly one of a kind.
