Eileen Brennan Gallagher. Affectionately known by many as Eileen B, or Herself, or mom, or Aunt Eileen or Nani, or Mrs G and when it was close to St. Patrick’s Day she was the Queen of Green. Eileen had a zest for life that made her a favorite wherever she went, for all her life. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Irish immigrants. Her father Edward Brennan, “Brennie” served in the US Army during World War I. Due to complications from the War he received care at Great Lakes Naval Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Eileen, her mother and sister Mary would take the train to visit him. This may have sparked her desire for travel. Her father passed away when she was 6 and they moved to Youngstown where other aunts and uncles lived. She attended Chaney High School. She thrived! Her nickname was “Bregie”. She was actively involved in many Clubs and Committees including the Girls Athletic Association, the Picture Committee, the Office Force, the Dramatic Club and the Personality Club! After high school she moved back to Cleveland and attended classes at Fenn College now known as Cleveland State University. She worked for an insurance company and did accounting. She met and fell in love with a West Side Irishman named Patrick Gallagher. They married at St Thomas Aquinas Church in 1950. After having two boys and living in a small apartment on the East side of Cleveland they moved to the suburbs. And so started their life in Parma, Ohio. Two more boys and a girl were added to the family. They joined St. Charles parish, where Herself was a devoted parishioner and friend to every priest and sister. She began life time forever friendships with Pauline Fiegelist, Arline Richlovsky and Connie Tobias.
