Elena Samanc

ELENA "Mamica, Bunica, Maicuta, Ma" SAMANC (nee Berlovan), age 99, peacefully passed on December 15, 2021, at home. She was born January 20, 1922 in Alibunar, Serbia. She was the beloved wife of the late Petar Samanc of Alibunar. Mother to Livia (Lazar Balnozan) and the late Dorika. Devoted Bunica to Speranca (Dragutin Simic), Marinka Balnozan, and Maja Sanic. Great-grandmother to Marina (Dan), Magdalena (Kenneth), Aleksandar (Madeline), Nikola (Renee), Samuel, Gabriel, and Isabella. Doting Great-great-grandmother to Anastasia, Emilia, Luka, Aleksandar, Lazar, and Gabriela. Sister of the late Maria.

She enjoyed a simple but hardworking life raising animals and farming in Alibunar. After the passing of her husband, she moved to America to be with her family. Here she was blessed to be surrounded by her 5th generation.  She could spend all day watching her great-great-grandchildren play and endless games of tablic.

SERVICES WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY, December 21 AT 10:30 AM at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 2151 W. Wallings Road.  V. Rev. Mijoljub Matic officiating. Please meet at the Church.  Interment at St. Sava Cemetery.
