Frank Euse, loving and beloved husband of Jeanne; dear brother of Della Lackamp and Stephen Euse (Mary Lou); uncle to Damion Lackamp (Todd Faircloth), Stephanie Sufilka (Jason), and Denise Lackamp (Paul Richards); great-uncle to Quintus Richards. He was preceded in death by his parents Steve and Claudia Euse and his stepmother Frances Euse. Frank also had an honorary grandson and sidekick Danny Cromleigh and many wonderful friends. Frank graduated from Shaw High School, received his bachelor’s degree from Kent State University, did postgraduate work to receive certification in Special Education at The University of Akron, and attained his master’s degree at Cleveland State University. His whole career was spent teaching Special Education in the Berea School System, first at Berea Children’s Home and then at Berea High School. During this time, he led many innovative programs, always working to improve the learning experience for his students. Frank was always a hard worker, often balancing two jobs while attending school. He worked at his father’s pizza shop from its conception, so is well- known in the Brook Park area. While in college he worked the night shift at Pepsi Cola for three summers, often driving there directly from the pizza shop. Once he was teaching, he worked the summer recreation program at Berea Children’s Home, taught summer school, and did private tutoring. But Frank was definitely not all work and no play. He enjoyed poker and belonged to two poker groups, one of which started at KSU and continued meeting monthly for 50+ years. He even had a Wild West poker room which he enjoyed decorating, collecting souvenirs whenever he traveled out west. And travel he did! When he first met Jeanne, he knew that “she was the one” because she shared his love of traveling. Together they visited all seven continents, all 50 states, and approximately 70 countries. They also enjoyed theater and could frequently be found at Playhouse Square, community theaters, or the theater districts of Toronto or New York. In his younger days, he played racquetball weekly. He was an avid reader, a political junkie, and enjoyed watching the Cleveland teams. Frank also had a romantic streak and was the inventor of “the birthday pageant”, a celebration that lasts from the weekend before to the weekend after the birthday and includes small gifts (and usually dining out) every day and one great adventure such as a hot air balloon ride, a ride through the Metroparks in the Euclid Beach rocket, or a nighttime cruise past Kilauea as it is erupting. Frank will be remembered for his kindness, his dedication to teaching, his great sense of humor, and the courage and determination with which he handled living with multiple sclerosis most of his life.
