IN LOVING MEMORY OF
FRANK JOHN
GRASBERGER
March 6, 1926 – February 5, 2026
Frank John Grasberger, 99, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 5, 2026, with his wife and daughter by his side.
Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Frank spent the majority of his career serving as a Cuyahoga County Engineer until his retirement.
He was a World War II Veteran, fought in the 106th Infantry Division of the Battle of the Bulge (The Golden Lions) and was deployed to St. Vith in 1944. He was one of the lucky ones and came home aboard the Queen Mary.
For the past five years, Frank and his wife, Dolores, made their home at Vitalia Senior Living in Strongsville, Ohio, where they enjoyed the company of family and friends, formed new friendships, and embraced the community and comforts of senior living.
Frank was thrilled when he was featured on Steve Hartman’ “On the Road” in 2021 and then again in 2023 when Steve’s son interviewed him. Also featured was DeShauna Priest, the little girl that wrote him a letter when he was on the Honor Flight in D.C. It was 12 years after that letter that they met in person with DeShauna all grown up and in the military. We are so proud of her.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gertrude Grasberger (Weber), his granddaughter Bonnie, and his son-in-law Harry James DeFeo of Kansas City, Missouri.
He is survived by his loving wife Dolores of 79 years, his children Bonnie Huber (Max Huber), Linda DeFeo, his grandchildren, Cheryl Lechman (Dan), Marianna DeFeo (Sammy Albadri) Frank (Rocky) DeFeo (Casey Mast), great-grandchildren Nick Huber, Nate Lechman, Farah Albadri, Amir Albadri and great-great-grandchild Hunter Huber. He is also survived by loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
The Grasberger family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Vitalia Senior Living - Strongsville, OH and the Cypress Hospice staff for the kindness, care, and support Frank received throughout his journey. They would also like to offer a special thank you to Ric Esarey and his brothers at the Cleveland Masons Lodge No. 781 for their continued support and dedication.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Quilts of Honor, 6516 Stabulis Road, Valley Springs, CA 95252. Please indicate that donation is for the Northeastern Ohio Chapter.
At the request of the family, a private Celebration of Life will be held on what would have been Frank’s100th birthday, March 6, 2026.
