On Monday, October 31, 2022, Freeman Elton "Bud" Wilfong passed away at the age of 91 years and four months. Born as the eldest son to mother Rema Wilfong (Wright), and father Shirley Freeman Wilfong. Bud was a father of three children, and three step-children. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and served in (then) West Germany. He worked at MTD, (Modern Tool and Die) until retirement. Bud was an avid outdoorsman, having grown up in a rural region of West Virginia, he loved to hunt and fish with family and friends. Bud was an accomplished guitarist, having been a member of a country and western band known as "The Sunset Ramblers" in his earlier years. He and his wife Maria were members of the Lutheran Church. Bud liked gardening, and family gatherings on holidays. Bud is survived by his wife Maria Wilfong (Parente), Sister Sharon Susan White (Wilfong), sons Larry Lynn Wilfong, Gary Freeman Wilfong, Nick and Tony Parente, Daughter Joyce Parente, grandaughters Felicia Wilfong, Kiley A.R. Cullen (Wilfong), Jessica Straszak (Pettry), Christie MacMurray, Cassandra Richlovsky (Parente), Shannon Parente and Angel Rae Adams (deceased) also grandsons Mason Wilfong, Braden Wilfong, Justin Pettry, and Michael Parente.
Bud was preceeded in death by his mother Rema Wilfong (Wright), father Shirley Freeman Wilfong, Sister Wanda Metz (Wilfong), brother Lynnard Wilfong, brother Michael Wilfong, and daughter Terri Renee Pettry (Wilfong). Although Bud was a practical and quiet man, he will be remembered for being a hard working, beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He was most always willing to help friends and family. He loved talking about his life growing up in the country, sharing and laughing about funny stories with friends and family. Freeman Elton "Bud" Wilfong will be sorely missed and always remembered by those who knew and loved him.
Viewing for friends and family will be at Ripepi Funeral Home, 5762 Pearl Road, Parma, Ohio 44129 on Thursday, November 3rd, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Friday November 4th, 2022, at Saint Rocco Church 3205 Fulton Road, Cleveland, Ohio 44109
Bud's wishes were for donations to American Cancer Society, or any local humane society, in his memory rather than gifting flowers to the funeral home.
