Listen to Obituary

GAYLE A. BARTOSH (nee Rothgery) age 59, of Cleveland passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Wednesday January 31, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. Gayle was born on January 27, 1959 and was a lifelong resident of Cleveland, where she devoted most of her life to bringing joy and giving back to members of the community. She is the beloved wife of Phil for 38 years; loving mother of “P.J.” (Kristal) and Annie Bartosh; daughter of the late Paul Rothgery and Ann Rothgery-Dvorak (George Dvorak); sister of Diane Monteleone (Michael), Richard Rothgery (deceased) (Kathy), Robert Rothgery (Lori, deceased), Paul Dvorak (Carrin), Rita Dvorak, Neil Dvorak (Jan) and Roy Dvorak (Kathi); loving aunt, mentor, and true friend to many. Gayle was an accomplished cook with the incredible ability to make almost anything out of nothing, and no one ever left her home hungry. Over the years, she regularly volunteered for churches and local kitchens, offering her services for neighborhood events and catering large parties for friends. When she wasn’t cooking for friends and family, she was challenging herself to develop new homemade recipes for her business. As the proud owner of Spreadable Edibles, she spent her weekends with her husband at farmer’s markets, meeting new people and sampling/selling their award winning jellies, jams, and honey, which won an impressive 19 blue ribbons and two Best of Shows at the County Fair. She was a member and volunteer of the Greater Cleveland Beekeeping Association and an avid beekeeper at home, maintaining up to four live hives in her own backyard. She loved each of her bees as “her girls” and spent ten years at the Earth Day Coalition of Cleveland, educating the general public about honeybees and recruiting new beekeepers. Gayle had a long career in the dental field as a licensed radiologist and assistant, and she often joked that her office title, CDPMA, stood for “Can Do Practically Most Anything”. For over ten years, she worked at TMJ and Headache Center in Westlake, where she managed the office and loved each patient, making it a point to make each person feel at home. Service will held at the funeral home, Tuesday, February 6 at 11 a.m.  Final resting place Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date.  Friends received at RIPEPI FUNERAL HOME, 5762 PEARL RD. (AT SNOW RD.), MONDAY 4-8 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Gayle’s memory can be made to the Cuyahoga County Agricultural Society c/o Apiary Program, P.O. Box 135, Berea, OH 44017.
