Gloria Ashworth (nee Horvath) age 86, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 26, 2026 after a brief illness. She was born on March 20, 1940, to the late Anthony and Kathryn Horvath (nee Palcisko) and was a long-time resident of the Village of Brooklyn Heights, Ohio.
A 1958 graduate of the all-female Jane Addams High School, Gloria went on to have a life-long career in hairdressing, starting out at Della’s House of Beauty in Old Brooklyn and then eventually setting up her own salon. She also attended Cuyahoga Community College where she received an Associate’s Degree and wrote a lovely story about her father’s former business, Welders Supply Inc. She’ll be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and loving smile. Above all, she truly adored and took interest in the community and in spending time with her friends and family.
Gloria’s deep faith in God manifested in her care for others such as volunteering to deliver holiday meals to the needy and helping at village & church social events. She showed unwavering support for many charities including the “Friends of the Fishkill Supply Depot” a non-profit group her sons maintain to fight and save a Revolutionary War burial site. An avid traveler, she visited six of the seven continents during her life which often included holy places, shrines, and pilgrimage locations. She was a great cook known best for her Slovak favorites like chicken paprikash and kolache!
Gloria is lovingly remembered by her four children and their spouses: Robert Ashworth of Olmsted, Kathleen & John Kostyo of Vermilion, SuzAnne & Thomas Wilson of North Royalton and Lance & Cynthia Ashworth of Fishkill, NY; her grandchildren: Robert Bliss, Seth Bastic, John Bastic, Rebecca Noah, Danielle Ashworth & her fiancé Alec Gerson, Julia Ashworth, Lindsey Morgan & husband Sam, and Tanner Wilson & his fiancée Megan Daniel as well as seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, former husband Ronald Ashworth, and brother Anthony P. Horvath.
