Listen to Obituary

Gloria “Dee” Singleton, 72, of Middleburg Heights, was called home Sunday morning, 4/28, after a courageous battle with cancer.

A New Years baby, born 1/1/52 to her parents Edward and Gloria Kelly, she grew up in Cleveland and graduated from West Tech High School in 1970.

Dee spent most of her career in banking in the Cleveland area, surviving mergers and buyouts, and ultimately retiring from New York Community Bank. After retirement, she spent much of her free time being a friend, caregiver and support to family and friends. Anyone privileged to know her knew she would give you the shirt off her back or shoes off her feet if necessary. She was an indefatigable true friend.

Dee was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Parish and was active in their music ministry and choir, which she loved. She was a woman of many talents and interests, hospitable and generous. She eagerly accepted projects and thrived staying busy and active. She had quite a green thumb with an incredible talent for resurrecting dying plants. Many friends and family sent their pitiful greens to her home plant hospital. She was also an active member of the West Tech Alumni Association, and for years assisted in planning and coordinating reunions, as well as keeping their rosters up to date through internet searches for classmates.

Dee is survived by her husband Martin Singleton, her children Dana Cook (Tim McKee), David Cook, Linda Singleton (Scott Papson) and Kathleen Singleton; her grandchildren Morgan Cook, Cecelia Cook, Brennan Singleton, Mya and Caden Papson; as well by her brothers, John Kelly and Gene Kelly (Galina) and many nieces and nephews.

Dee is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Gloria “Sally” Kelly (nee Becerra), as well as her brother Joe Kelly and her sister Linda DiVincenzo.
