HELEN MILLER, born Helen Louise King on July 11, 1937, was the daughter of the late Thomas B. and Julia (nee Bennett) King and was the older sister of Thomas E. King (wife Margaret) of Elyria, Ohio; Karen M. Hamilton (late husband Jerry) of Gallipolis, Ohio; and the late Charles J. King. She departed this earthly life with her family at her side on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at the age of 85.
She is survived by her four children (and 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild): Timothy B. Miller (wife Leslie and son Bryan) of Brecksville, Ohio; Laurel J. Debenham (husband Jamie and sons Adam, Nathan, and Eric) of Strongsville, Ohio; Ann E. Ramer (husband Daniel, son Alexander, daughters Lauren and Olivia, and late son Brent) of Brecksville, Ohio; and Nicholas M. Miller (wife Adrienne and sons Owen and Elliot and daughter Ava) of Solon, Ohio; as well as her sister-in-law Betty Wrobleski of Jacksonville, Florida, and other extended family.
She grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, with a love for classical music and a talent for playing the violin. She attended West High School (class of ‘55) and married the late Dwight A. Miller in 1957. She had fond memories of raising her children in Maple Heights and Strongsville, Ohio. Later in life, she returned to school and received her nursing degree, then spent nearly 20 years serving patients in the cardiac care step down unit at Lakewood Hospital. After retirement, she moved to Brecksville, Ohio, where she enjoyed her dogs and her passions for birding and gardening. She was fiercely independent and a staunch believer in God and the United States Constitution. She was most happy while spending time with her family, eating ice cream, and listening to country music — preferably all at the same time. She was devoted to the Pleasant Valley Church and its congregation.
She was comforted by Psalm 46:10: “Be still and know that I am God.”
