Ornowski, Helen (nee Hadevich)

It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Ornowski announces her passing on September 2, 2019 at the age of 93. Helen will be lovingly remembered by her children, Raymond (Marty), Deborah (Mary Kay). Her nieces and nephews completed her family; Mike and Debbie Frick, Barb and Guy Atkinson, Paul and Vickie Frick, Dave and Carol Frick, Mark Luthe, Suzanne and Gary Osborne, Sandy and Bob Stricko.

Helen was born on January 10, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio to parents Radmila Victorovich and Ignat Hadevich. She and her sisters, Anna and Mary traveled the west side of Cleveland with their wagon, bringing home many of the tasty treats Cleveland had to offer; bread from Fiocca’s Bakery and fruit and cheeses from the West Side Market. Helen married Ray Ornowski, the love of her life in June of 1951. They were married 26 years before his death in May 1978. She lived in her home in Strongsville for 58 years where she enjoyed lifelong friendships with many endearing neighbors who will miss her presence dearly.

Helen’s faith was important to her. She had a consistently strong nature. She was not a person that gave advice but rather asked questions that made you think. When she sat at a party she was quiet until she surprised you with a witty remark.  When you struck her funny bone you were rewarded with a robust laugh. She was concerned about people’s struggles and would relentlessly ask about them and pray for them.

Interment services will be private. In lieu of flowers, her children ask that we all be loving and kind to one other. Helen would like that.
