Inge Schmidt

INGE SCHMIDT, age 72, of Medina, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2024. Beloved wife of Ajit Sane for nearly 50 years; cherished and devoted mother of Megan (Luke Nicholas) and Peter Schmidt-Sane (Chelsea Wright); dearest sister of Eveline Blum (Harald) and Monika Strah (Steven); beloved sister-in-law of Manjiri and Vijay Sane; loving aunt of Hunter Strah, Hemant and Abhay Sane; family and dear friend of many. Inge was born in Vienna, Austria in 1951 to Hans and Hilde Schmidt and the family immigrated to Cleveland in 1961. A first-generation college student, she graduated with her PhD and MBA from Case Western Reserve University. As a professor and through her non-profit work, Inge was dedicated to providing educational opportunities for all, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. An intellectual and humanist, she was passionate about music, literature, the arts, and Austrian history. Inge was a tender and loving soul and will be greatly missed. Private service and internment. Family and friends to be received at a Celebration of Life in her birthday month of June. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Music Settlement in Cleveland, Ohio.
