Irene Reiter, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully after a long and richly lived life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Reiter, and by her sons Carl and David.
Irene’s greatest joy and pride was her family. She was the loving mother of Gary (Ann), Michael (Denise), and the late Carl and David (Beverly). She cherished her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother, and her love extended through generations to her great-great-grandchildren. Her family was the center of her life, and she was always there with encouragement, wisdom, love, and unwavering support.
Irene was also a woman of remarkable energy and independence. An avid golfer, she continued playing well into her 90s. Golf was much more than a pastime for Irene—it was a source of friendship, laughter, competition, and countless memories. She formed lasting friendships with the many people she met through the game and treasured those relationships throughout her life.
Irene also enjoyed a long and successful career, working for Westinghouse, Gould, and Kohl’s. Her work was an important part of her life, and she was respected and appreciated by the many colleagues and friends she made along the way.
Those who knew Irene will remember her devotion to her family, her strong work ethic, her independence, her friendships, and her zest for life. She had a way of making people feel connected to her, and the relationships she built remained important to her throughout her many years.
Her family is especially grateful for the loving care and presence of Denise, Nina, Christie, and Caylie, who were by Irene’s side and cared for her during her final days. Their love, compassion, and devotion brought comfort to Irene and to the entire family during a very difficult time.
Irene lived 96 years, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of love and family. Although 96 years is a life filled with memories, for those who loved her, it still feels far too soon. Her family will forever wish they could have had more time with her, more conversations, more laughter, and more days together.
She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, extended family, and the many friends whose lives she touched.
Her life was long, her family was loved, and her memory will endure for generations.
