ISKANDAR ABOU-CHEBL, age 88, of Bikfaya, Lebanon, passed away after a long illness on March 17, 2021. He died peacefully at home. Iskandar was the eldest of 12 children and, at an early age, took charge of the family’s international shipping business. For the sake of his children, he gave up everything in war-torn Lebanon and emigrated to the USA to start a new life. He was a loving father and husband. Iskandar will be greatly missed by all who have been touched by his presence and will be remembered for his generosity and kindness. He lived a life filled with good deeds and a strong commitment to his Maronite faith. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Omaya Abou-Chebl (née Omaya Sarkis), his three children Grace, Alex (wife Rita), Charles, his two grandchildren Alexander and Anabella and a large extended family. In honor of his devotion to helping others the family requests that in lieu of flowers, all donations be made to the many needy in Lebanon; due to the current economic and political situation, donations made directly to the family will be hand-delivered to those in need in Lebanon. A Mass, which will be broadcast on Facebook Live, will be held at St. Maron Maronite Church, 1245 Carnegie Ave., Cleveland on Saturday March 20, 2021 at 11 a.m. Please meet at church. Iskandar‘s cremated remains will be returned to his beloved Lebanon to be interred in the family mausoleum. The family will hold a viewing at RIPEPI FUNERAL HOME, 5762 PEARL RD. (AT SNOW RD.), FRIDAY, MARCH 19 FROM 4-7 P.M. Social distancing and masks required.
