JAMES P. MALAMES, December 24, 1943 – March 2, 2021. Beloved son of the late John and Tillie (nee Kissel); loving brother of William, Patricia and the late Helen, John and Martin; dearest brother-in-law of Sharon; dear uncle of Randy, Phillip, Christine, Julie and the late Kevin, Marty and Stephen; great-uncle. Jim was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy from August 17, 1961 until August 24, 1967. He served active duty aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Lexington as a Radar Man from June 9, 1963 until September 4, 1963 and from January 14, 1964 until January 17, 1966 he was an active member of the U.S. Naval Reserve. He worked in Cleveland, OH, Erie, PA, Toledo, OH and later for the Park Division because he loved the outdoors. Jim was a people person and loved meeting at a coffee shop with friends. He loved animals and rescued many, finding them forever homes whenever he could. He had his forever dog and of course he named him Lord Nelson; he was a Navy man through and through. Jim had dementia and spent the last years of his life (May 14, 2012 – March 2, 2021) at Royal Oak Nursing Home where he was taken care of with respect, kindness and love from administration and staff. Jim loved his family and was a good brother and friend to all. He will be terribly missed. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 23215 Commerce Park, Ste 300, Cleveland, OH 44122. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas More Church, Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 10 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends received at RIPEPI FUNERAL HOME, 5762 PEARL RD. (AT SNOW RD.), MONDAY 4-7 P.M. Social distancing and masks required.
