JANICE
FOSS
Dec 3, 1954 — Sep 28, 2026
Garfield Heights, OH
Monday
Nuevo Acapulco Mexican Restaurant
4:00 - 7:00 pm (Eastern time)
Janice passed away peacefully this September at the age of 71, following a courageous journey with dementia. While the illness reshaped her final years, it could never dim the radiant, indelible spirit that defined her entire life.
Janice lived life entirely on her own terms. Boldly independent and delightfully strong-willed, she had zero filter, a quick wit, and a warmth that wrapped around you the moment you walked through the door. You never had to wonder where you stood with her; she offered unfiltered honesty and real-world wisdom with equal parts love and humor. If you asked for her take on something, you got the unvarnished truth and usually a good laugh to go with it.
She and Chuck shared over five decades together, weathering life's ups and downs side by side. Chuck adored her completely and stood by her through every chapter. In their later years, as they navigated health challenges together, they chose to share a room in their care community so they would never be apart. He remained faithfully at her side until her very last breath.
As a mother, Janice raised Stacie and Danielle to be resilient, know their self-worth, and know how to hold their own. She poured that same boundless affection into being a grandmother, delighting in every milestone with Justyce, Zachary, and Noah at every turn.
A familiar, beloved face behind the bar at Nuevo Acapulco for more than two decades, she was known affectionately to her kitchen and dining crew as “Maria.” Long after she poured her last margarita and stepped away from the bar, her regulars and colleagues continued to speak of her with profound fondness and respect.
Those who loved Janice knew her trademark quirks well. She traveled with a famously oversized handbag that somehow produced whatever anyone happened to need at any given moment. Having lived the demands of the restaurant industry firsthand, she took dining etiquette seriously whenever she ate out; instinctively stacking plates neat and tidy at the edge of the table to make the server’s night a little easier, and firmly believing that hard work deserved a generous tip.
She leaves behind Chuck; her daughters, Stacie and Danielle; her cherished grandchildren, Justyce, Zachary, and Noah; as well as a tight-knit network of extended relatives, lifelong friends, former coworkers, and loyal patrons.
We’ll all be missing a little something in our lives, without her.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, October 12, 2026, at Nuevo Acapulco in Fairview Park. Please feel free to stop by between 4:00-7:00pm.
In lieu of flowers or formal sympathy gifts, please simply bring your favorite memories, stories, and laughter to share in honor of a woman who was truly one of a kind.
