IN LOVING MEMORY…
Jean Durborow, of Brookpark, Ohio passed away on March 8th, 2016 peacefully in her sleep. Jean was born on July 14th, 1922 and resided in BrookPark, Ohio for most of her adult life. She patriotically served in the Army during World War II and upon discharge began an avid career as both a teacher and counselor in the Parma City School System and took great pride in nurturing her students to be the best they could be. She also taught night classes helping others obtain their GED.
Jean was a well -rounded individual with a deep appreciation of the arts. Films, music, jazz, classical composers and performers were among her specialties. She was also a history buff with an extended knowledge of the Civil War, the First World War and the sinking of the Titanic. Any topic she was interested in would be thoroughly researched. She was also a fan of mystery novels and film. Having a vast library of materials, she enjoyed sharing her interests with both friends and family. Jean also enjoyed Christmas. Over the years she shared this love with friends by putting together tapes of musical selections that she enjoyed. Haunting record stores and record shows, she would try to find obscure selections and then carefully organize them for maximum results. This became her holiday tradition. One of her favorite authors was William Saroyan and her life can be summed up best by with a quote from his work, “The Human Comedy”: “In the time of your life, live so that in that good time there be no ugliness or death for yourself or any life your life touches. Seek goodness everywhere, and when it is found, bring it out of its hiding place and let it be free and unashamed… In the time of your life, live so that in that wondrous time you shall not add to the misery and sorrow of the world, but shall smile to the infinite delight and mystery of it.” Jean was an avid lover of animals and her home was theirs. Donations should be made in her memory to the Animal Protective League, 1729 Willey Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio, 44113. All services private.
