Listen to Obituary

Jean M Geiss (nee Colosimo) of Parma, at age 90, went home to Heaven peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, November 1, 2025. Born in Cleveland, July 12, 1935, to Joseph and Norberta (McAuliffe) Colosimo. Jean was a dedicated and loving wife to the late Gerald for 61 years, and mother to seven children. The endless hours of motherhood were the joy of her life. After raising their children, Jean returned to Ursuline College and finished her Bachelors Degree of Arts in 1988. Then, in 1990, she entered Case Western Reserve University and obtained a Master of Science in Social Administration degree. She then received her LISW (Licensed Independent Social Worker) certificate for clinical practice in 1993. She used this degree for several years working with troubled youth at various facilities in the Cleveland area, including Parmadale.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Gerald, her parents, her older sister (Dolores Riley) and her granddaughter (Layla Clark). She is survived by her twin sister (Joan Duggan), as well as her loving children Suzanne Hernandez (Rick), Kathleen Allen (David), Julianne Clark (Don), Joseph Geiss (Sue), Loretta Hessler (Rick), Diane Kandzer (Tim), Deborah Butler (Jeff). Jean’s family legacy continues to grow, as she is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She will be lovingly remembered as our family prayer warrior, with her conviction to praying the rosary, having masses dedicated to family and friends, and watching daily masses on her favorite (EWTN) channel. Jean had a good sense of humor (Irish and Italian heritage would explain), as well as, a caring and sincere heart.

Mass of Christian burial to be held at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 5891 Ridge Rd., Parma, Friday, November 7, 2025 at 10:00 am.

The family would like to give our sincere thanks to the angels at the Vista Springs Ravinia Assisted Living Home in Independence Ohio, where mom spent the last 16 months. And a heartfelt and loving thanks to the Suncrest Hospice team of nurses, aids, chaplains and staff who loved and cared for her.
