Joseph R. Wick's Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Joseph Raymond Wick, age 89, of Strongsville, Ohio, formerly of Brook Park, Ohio entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 4, 2026. Born in Holland, New York, on Christmas Day in 1936, he was the son of John Wick and Jeanette Grayzck. In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved siblings Marion Smith, John Wick, Marjorie Smith, Louis Wick, and Stanley Wick, as well as his infant grandson, Samuel Wick.

A devoted Catholic, Joseph was a longtime parishioner of St. John Bosco Parish in Parma Heights, Ohio. He and his wife, Gloria, were proud founding members of the parish in 1961. Together, they enjoyed participating in parish events and volunteering within the church community. Joseph especially cherished his time on the golf course, where he shared many rounds and conversations with fellow parishioners and clergy.

Joseph and Gloria were married on August 9, 1958. They spent 67 loving years together.

Joseph was known for his strong work ethic, his warm laugh, and his love of staying active. He spent more than a decade with the Cotton Club Bottling Company in Cleveland, Ohio, delivering what he fondly referred to as the “coldest pop in Northeast Ohio.” His delivery routes brought him countless friendships and memorable adventures, stories he delighted in sharing with his family. He was a familiar and well-loved presence wherever he went, always quick to make a new friend. Joseph also treasured his summers at Sidell’s Fun Farm, where he gave tours, fed the raccoon, and even swung across the creek—much to the amusement of those who knew him. He retired from Dayton Hiedelburg Distributing after years of service as a truck driver.

Above all, Joseph’s greatest joy in life was his family. Nothing brought him more pride than the children and grandchildren he loved so deeply. He never missed an opportunity to check in on them, no matter the distance. Ever attentive, he monitored the weather closely and reached out after storms to ensure everyone was safe. He proudly wore college apparel from each of their universities, eager to show the world how much they meant to him. Joseph followed their accomplishments with unwavering enthusiasm—recording his son’s live radio broadcasts and replaying the cassette tapes for years, savoring every moment. His family was the center of his heart, and his legacy lives on in those he cherished most.

A loyal Cleveland sports fan, Joseph faithfully cheered on the Browns, Guardians, and Cavaliers at every opportunity.

Joseph is survived by his three children: Denise Maria Lindner (Norman) of Lake Wylie, South Carolina; Anthony Joseph Wick (Brenda) of Crossville, Tennessee; and Dominic Dion Wick (Jennifer) of Seneca Falls, New York. He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Nicholas Stephen Lindner of New Orleans, Louisiana; Christopher Carl Lindner of Austin, Texas; Sarah Rebecca Wick O’Dell (Zachary) of Cleveland, Tennessee; and Emma Frances Wick, Madeleine Mary Wick, and Sophie Anna Wick, all of Seneca Falls, New York.
