JOYCE CYGAN(nee Darus) age 85. Loving wife of Carl for 60 years. Dearest mother of Cindy Soinski (Jim Tancak), Carla Zegerman (Arno), Andrew Cygan, and May Beard (Tom). Cherished grandmother of Bobby, Ricky (Katie Meyers), Kristen (Chris Stewart), Kelly (Ricky Downer), Bryce, and Evan. Daughter of the late Peter and Mary (nee Zyxicka). Beloved sister of seven brothers and six sisters. Auntie Joyce to many many nieces and nephews. Cherished sister-in-law to Connie Kidd (the late George) and Clare Cygan Young (Bob Voegerl).Soon to be Great Grandmother to Adrienne.
Joyce lit up every room she entered with contagious laughter and desire to make everyone feel special. She was the rainbow during storms and the anchor for everyone she loved. She’s remembered as the life of the party, celebrating every occasion, especially Valentine’s Day. She was always the last to leave. Never wanting a party to end, Joyce always asked guests to stay a little longer to play a game or have dessert. She loved a good “snicky-snack” and preparing meals for her loved ones. There was always an extra seat at her table with more than enough food for all. Some of her favorite culinary masterpieces included her famous apple pie, pierogies (in homage to her Ukrainian and Polish heritage), and a lemon meringue pie for her beloved Carl.
Joyce was the epitome of a perfect grandma. She taught her grandchildren that if you love your job, you never work a day in your life. Joyce made life fun and magical for each of the grandkids. She cared deeply about her family and took the time to show them acts of love at every moment. Joyce taught us to find the joy in the little things, She loved being with her family and sitting around the table laughing. During every good and bad moment, she stuck by those she loved so they knew they could keep going. She disliked ever saying goodbye, it was always “see you later…”.
In celebration of Joyce, take time to dance, enjoy the magic in the butterflies, wear red, put some birdseed out, and always look for the rainbow
