Karl A. Bort

​ KARL A. BORT, age 78; beloved husband of Cheryl (nee Pejeau) for 57 years; loving father of Dennis, Donna Schmook (Joe) and Karl R. “Chip” (Nicole); cherished Pop to Joey (Emily), Johnny “Jonny”, Amanda and Nicky Schmook, Adam, Emma, Owen, Aiden and Logan Bort; son of the late Anan and Laroma Bort; brother of Colleen (deceased), George (Tina) and Paul (Mary) (both deceased); loving brother-in-law, uncle and friend of many.

Karl A. Bort led an interesting life to say the least.  His life was filled with numerous accomplishments and phases. From his humble beginnings as a boy from Erie, PA he moved to Cleveland where he met the love of his life, started a family, and began his career as a Cleveland Policeman. He was an undercover narcotics detective and eventually served as president of the Cleveland Police Patrolman’s Association. Upon his retirement, after 28 years, he went to nursing school and worked another 15 years as a nurse at several locations in the Cleveland area.  He highlighted both careers as an author in the two books he wrote and published.  He completed this 3 ^rd book just recently as well. Karl was many different things to many different people; father, husband, grandfather, brother, uncle and to many others….a drinking buddy. If you were his friend, you were his friend for life.  He loved life and it showed as he touched many lives while he was with us.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org . Service at the funeral home, Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. Friends received at RIPEPI FUNERAL HOME, 5762 PEARL RD. (AT SNOW RD.), WEDNESDAY 2-7 P.M.
