KATHERINE L. SPRUNGL (nee Steuk), age 64; beloved wife of Jeff for 35 years; loving mother of Diana Youngerman, Alixandra Ballard (David) and Kimberly Sprungl; devoted grandmother of Ian Ballard; daughter of Karl and Patricia Steuk; sister of Jeff Steuk (Paulette); aunt and cousin of many. Katherine achieved an Associate of Arts, a Bachelor of Science in Child & Family Community Services from Bowling Green State University, and earned her RN from the Fairview General Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for 42 years as a nurse in the Labor and Delivery unit, specializing in high-risk patient care. Through continuing education, she later earned her Inpatient Obstetric Nursing NAACOG Certification in 1991. She achieved numerous accolades for excellence in patient care and teaching.

Outside of the hospital, Kathy loved and enjoyed her family, horses, baking, and crafting. Her love of horses spanned from trail riding to a top 10 finish at the All-American Quarter Horse Congress. She shared her love of horses with her girls, teaching them to ride before they could walk. She enjoyed baking pies for Jeff, cookies and treats with the girls, and animal cookies for Ian. She specialized in intricately decorated birthday cakes every year. She enjoyed illustrating birthday and celebratory cards, painting murals on Alix’s and Kimberly’s bedroom wall, and crafting together for various occasions. Kathy enjoyed summers at the lake. She could be found in, on, and around the water: skiing, scuba diving, jet skiing, and playing with her daughters and grandson.

Kathy is remembered fondly by those who had the privilege to know her, work with her, and love her.
