Listen to Obituary

KATHLEEN COCHRANE DePIERO, Age 38 passed away unexpectedly on Saturday December 30, 2017 after a brief illness; beloved wife of Dean DePiero; loving mother of Blake and Hadley; dearest daughter of James and Tara Cochrane; grand-daughter of Evelyn Neely; dear sister of Christopher Cochrane (Cassie); daughter-in-law of Roberta and the late Jerry DePiero; sister-in-law of Lisa, Chris (Laura) and Matt DePiero (MJ); loving aunt of Reagan, Haley and Alenna Cochrane, Nick, Jennie, Cory, Melissa (Justin), Sean, Jake, Luke and the late Erin and Andrew; great aunt of Isabella. Kathleen graduated from Parkersburg High School and received her degree in journalism from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University. She was an Emmy Award winning reporter and anchor, which included stops in Parkersburg, West Virginia, Charlotte, North Carolina and Cleveland, Ohio. She was a captivating story teller and a natural on camera. Her colleagues in the news business respected and admired her. Kathleen stepped away from a successful career to be a full time mom to Blake and Hadley. She wanted to be there for every aspect of their lives, every single day. Kathleen treasured her time at her family’s lake house and her parent’s home in Hilton Head. She was the happiest surrounded by family and close friends, especially when she was the hostess. Kathleen had an infectious laugh that will live in our hearts forever. She often said, YOLO, you only live once. We were beyond blessed to have lived a tiny portion of our lives with her. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Ehrbar Angels Foundation, 11218 Essex Circle, North Royalton, OH 44133, or the Rev. John L. Viall Scholarship Fund c/o St. Albert the Great Church, 6667 Wallings Rd., North Royalton, OH 44133. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Albert the Great Church Friday January 5, 2018 at 12 noon. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends received at the church Thursday January 4, 2018 from 2-7 p.m. Arrangements by Ripepi Funeral Home.
