Lawrence A. Kolar

LAWRENCE A. KOLAR, age 84; beloved husband of Carolyn (nee Wolters) for 58 years; loving father of Lynn Newton (Bill) and Laureen Kwan (George); dearest grandfather of Billy Newton (LaKeshia), Olivia Newton (Gene Vance), Alexander Kwan (Lacey Rasmus) and Christopher Kwan; dear great-grandfather of Damion, Gia, Johnny, Genna, Sara, Lailani and Brayden; son of the late Lawrence and Edith Kolar.  Larry retired from RTA after 30 years of dedicated service. He was an accomplished professional musician/percussionist who loved jazz music. He loved traveling the world with his wife Carolyn and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Larry also enjoyed various events and activities including attending drum and bugle corps shows and watching and feeding the many species of birds from his garden which is adorned with an assortment of handcrafted decorations. Larry was an active service member at the Brooklyn Senior Center. One of Larry’s favorite traditions was assembling his annual display of homemade Christmas decorations. His final resting place will be Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Thomas P. Perciak Family Residential Hospice, 18659 Drake Rd., Strongsville, OH 44136.  Graveside service at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park, Monday, July 8, 2024 at 1 p.m.  Celebration of life at a later date.
