Leonard J. Gierosky

LEONARD J. GIEROSKY, passed away peacefully on Sunday June 19, 2022 at the age of 96 years, 11 months. Devoted husband of Dorothy (nee Creahan) for nearly 73 years; loving father of Paul, Pamela (Chuck Bernazzoli), Phyllis (Daniel Stothard), Peter (Julie Hardis Ware), Patricia and the late Phillip; grandfather of Nicholas (Kristy) Gierosky, Gabriel (Jennifer Null) Gierosky, Chrissy Bernazzoli, Ellen Stothard (fiancé Josiah Workman), Molly Stothard, Hannah Gierosky (Zac Paladino), Michelle Gierosky, Erin Thrower and Anne Thrower; great-grandfather of Alexander, Scarlett and Hadley Gierosky, Lillian Skold, Lauren Hoffmann, and new baby, Miles Paladino; beloved son of the late Joseph and Marie Gierosky; brother of Alice Arida and the late Laverne Eck (Carl) and Eileen Tancak (Raymond); uncle and great-uncle of many. Leonard was a proud graduate of West Tech High School and the University of Detroit and was employed for over 30 years as an electrical engineer at the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company/First Energy.  He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran, a member of the Cannon Company Third Infantry Regiment, having served at Ft Benning, GA and in Germany.  He was active in his church as a Sunday Mass usher and a member of the Holy Name Society, past President of the Dogwood Estates Homeowners Association, past President of the U.S. Mirror Class Association, and a member of Edgewater Yacht Club. He cherished his family and enjoyed camping, sailing, genealogy research and winter trips to Moon Bay in Key Largo, Florida. The family would like to thank the staff of Holy Family Hospice for the compassionate care provided to Leonard.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Hospice, 6707 State Rd., Parma, OH 44134 or Holy Family Catholic Church, 7367 York Rd., Parma, OH 44130. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Church on Saturday June 25, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. Please meet at church. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.  Friends received at THE RIPEPI FUNERAL HOME, 5762 PEARL RD. (AT SNOW RD.), FRIDAY, JUNE 24, 2022 from 5-7 p.m.
