Lillian Elaine Farrell

LILLIAN ELAINE FARRELL, age 93, of Brooklyn, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024 surrounded by family. Lillian was born January 22, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late John and Lydia Jedan and the wife of the late Carl Farrell. Lillian was the beloved mother of Kathy Sykes (Bruce), Carl Farrell Jr. (Ann) and Richard Farrell (Maria); grandmother of Richard Sykes, Jaclynn Harasimchuck (Tim), Matthew Farrell (Jessica), Scott Farrell (Jennifer), Nathaniel Farrell (Jessica) and Jonathan Farrell (Carolyn); great-grandmother of Ryan, Logan, Lily, Leo, Anderson, Grayson, Vivienne, and Emerie; sister of the late John Jedan. Lillian will be remembered most for her love and optimism. She was a singer and dancer, participating in church choirs, community theater and Senior Follies productions. One exceptional role was Lillian’s performance as Mother Superior in The Sound of Music. Over the years Lillian competed in 5k races and received awards in her age category. She loved to read and do crossword puzzles. Gram, or GG (as the great-grandchildren called her) fostered family traditions across the generations. She generously shared her baking talents, providing dozens of delicious Christmas cookies with all the family. Lillian brought joy into our lives, inspiring kindness and open-heartedness. She will be missed by many.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 9th, 2024 at Dr. Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4470 Ridge Road, Brooklyn, Ohio 44144 at 12 p.m. Suggested memorial contributions may be made in Lillian’s honor to the American Cancer Society or community library of your choice.

Afterglow

I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.

I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.

I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,

Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.

I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun;

Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
