Luigi Mazzone

LUIGI MAZZONE passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on April 8th, 2016 surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of the late Elena (nee Gallo) for 64 years. Loving father of Marco (Mary), Frank (Charlene), and Dr. James (Deceased) (Linda). Beloved grandfather of Michael (Kerri), Eric (Jacob), Steven, Maria Frasca (Massimiliano), Gina, and Christy. Great grandfather of Peter, Brady, Benjamin, Chase, and soon to arrive Olivia and Sia. Son of the late Marco and Dea. Brother of the late Vincent (Gertrude), Carl (Jennie), Carmella Scipione (Nicholas), and Mary Corsi (Vincent). Dear uncle and great uncle of many. Born an American citizen, he grew up as child in Italy. Luigi came back to Cleveland and later joined the U.S. Navy and the Office of Strategic Services to serve in WWII. Following the end of the war, he returned to Cleveland with his new bride. Luigi was known for the full service bakery business that he built with his family, M. Mazzone & Sons Bakery. The bakery was Luigi’s passion, working long hours, seven days a week for 76 years. He will be remembered for his enduring dedication to his community, church, business, friends and family. Everyone who knew Luigi would refer to him as an amazing storyteller. Please bring your favorite story of Luigi to write down and share when you come to pay respects. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rocco Church, 3205 Fulton Rd, Cleveland, Friday April 15 at 10 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Luigi at THE RIPEPI FUNERAL HOME, 5762 PEARL ROAD (AT SNOW), WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
