Mary Lynn Bouchez

June 4, 1939 – August 18, 2016

Mary Lynn Bouchez (nee Jones) passed away on August 18, 2016, at her daughter’s home in Middletown, Ohio. She was 77.

A feisty, generous and creative spirit with a wicked wit, Lynn was an artisan who mastered any craft she cared to undertake. Lynn’s greatest joy, however, was finding out what you liked to eat and then making it for you. When it came to creativity, cooking was definitely her preferred outlet. In her honor, we give you her famous fudge recipe.

LYNN’S AWESOME FUDGE

1 lb confectioners sugar
1/2 cup cocoa
1/4 tsp salt
6 TBS butter
4 TBS milk
1 TBS vanilla

Put all ingredients into top of double boiler. Stir until smooth.

Add nuts if desired.

Pour into buttered 9” x 5” loaf pan or pour onto buttered cookie sheet.

Cool and cut into squares.

Lynn was born in Parma, Ohio on June 4, 1939. She attended Lourdes Academy and after graduation worked as a secretary at Alcoa, where she met her husband, Russ Bouchez. In 1964, Lynn relocated with her husband and two young daughters to Dearborn, Michigan. Lynn and Russ moved back to Ohio in 1994 after Russ retired, settling in North Royalton to be nearer to family.

In addition to her two daughters, Lisa, M. Bouchez (Richard Bevis) of Middletown, Ohio and L. Helena Bouchez (Jeffrey Brownstein) of Hopewell, New Jersey, Lynn is survived by her sister Lee Finnerty, and brothers Bill Jones and Larry Jones. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well as four dedicated and compassionate caregivers Mellisa, Erika, Kendra, and Katrina. Lynn was preceded in death her husband, Russell J. Bouchez and her parents Melvin J. Jones and Elizabeth “Betty” Jones (nee Lillie).
