Starts at 9:30 am (Eastern time)
Margaret “Peggy” Elaine (Dagostino) Schneider, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Peggy was born on August 23, 1938, the daughter of Caroline (Haft) and Peter Dagostino in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from West Tech High School in 1957, earned an Associates Degree at Cuyahoga Community College, and attended the Zona Spray School of Cooking, taking courses with a focus on pastry arts.
Peggy was known as a wonderful cook and a gifted baker. Her family and friends looked forward to her incredibly delicious meals and pastries at family events and celebrations over the years. She raised five children – spending her early adult years as a mom and homemaker. Later, she worked as a school secretary at a Montessori school and also worked in catering at Stouffer’s in downtown Cleveland, preparing and cooking pastries. While living in Fort Myers, Florida, she volunteered as a “cuddler” in the NICU at the local hospital, holding, singing to, and soothing infants when their parents could not be there.
Peggy also enjoyed sewing, knitting and crafting, often making homemade gifts for family members, including communion dresses she sewed for her daughters and granddaughters. She kept in touch with a group of her high school friends – who our family affectionately called the “hens” – regularly getting together at each other’s homes or going out to dinner. She loved to travel and enjoyed trips to her condo at Captiva Island, family trips to Disney World, and cruising to many locations with her husband Bob and her daughters and grandchildren. She also liked to attend sporting events and was a lifelong fan of the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers. She was a kind and generous person with a great sense of humor and always made others feel welcome and loved. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
Peggy was the beloved wife of the late Robert (Bob) Schneider. She was the loving mother of Gretchen (Craig) Horstman, Mark (Casey) Schneider, Robert Schneider (deceased), William Schneider (deceased), Beth (Bob) Strauss, and Anne Schneider. She is the grandmother of Zachary Horstman, Kilian Horstman, Claire (Matt) Devonshire, Robert Schneider (deceased), Jacqueline Schneider-Quinones (Allen), Payton, Reagan, Markie and Nolan Schneider, Nikki (Taylor) Desmont, Rory Strauss, Mia Strauss, Michael Gallagher, and Eoin Gallagher (deceased) and great grandmother of Liam Horstman, Kai and Zane Devonshire, and Lillian and Ana Schneider. She was the sibling of Peter (Helen) Dagostino (deceased), Carol (Bob) Perkins, and Jack (Sherry) Dagostino.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Church 5891 Ridge Rd., Parma on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. with entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
