Maria Posanti

Maria Posanti, age 76: beloved mother of Lisa M. Casarona (Carly) and Tommy Posanti (Collin)(Matt); cherished sister of Phil Posanti (Patty); loving aunt to Erin and Phillip (Dani) Posanti; dear cousin to many. Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Wilma Posanti (nee Basile).

Maria will be remembered as an avid sports fan. She began cheering on her high school teams as a member of Block G at Garfield Heights High School, and continued her love of all sports by cheering on the Cleveland Indians, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Cleveland Browns and as a season ticket holder to the Cleveland Rockers. Not one to simply watch, Maria also loved to bowl and could always be found dancing. Her passions and interests didn’t end there. She enjoyed crafting things from Tri-Chem crafts to candles and even had a secret obsession with Tetris.

Her friends and family will always cherish her sass, her humor and her unmatched side eye. She was brave enough to venture back to college late in life, and earned her college degree at the age of 40, while working as stage crew at Cuyahoga Community College. She then went on to devote thirty years of her life to Dean Supply where she retired. She inspired both her children to never stop pursuing their dreams and goals. Her courage to be out and proud before it was en vogue shaped many.

Of the many roles she had throughout her life, none meant more to her than being a mom. She devoted her life to giving her kids all she could, and was never happier than when her kids were having a good laugh. She loved nothing more than providing a home full of food, love and laughter to anyone who would stop by. Her homemade sauce will be missed by all who ever had it.
