Martin "Marty" Novak, 65, died suddenly September 30, 2024 at his Parma apartment. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the beloved son of Catherine and Raymond Novak. Dearest brother (and sports discussing/commiserating pal) of Marie, and Mike, Ray & Steve. Cherished nephew of Evelyn Heysler. Numerous extended family members include his niece, nephews, great nephews, cousins, second and third cousins. Marty graduated from St. Peter Chanel High School and Cleveland State University. Marty was a sports fanatic, always cheering on the Browns, Cavs and Tribe, plus OSU (and the old soccer and hockey teams we used to have), with a great knowledge of sports statistics. He also loved participating in sports, including golf, putt-putt (several time course champion of the old Southgate course) and was a star cross country and track runner in high school and college. He played the trumpet, and later piano (self-taught) enjoyed listening to music, was a good cook, loved mafia movies, jigsaw puzzles, Sudoku, online Scrabble, Heineken and Mr. Hero. He was always hardworking at various endeavors, but didn't get the call to be a sports broadcaster/announcer/podcaster (his dream job). He was also a generous, kind neighbor who helped anyone in need, and was a friend to many over the years. Marty understood more than many that the best things in life don't have to be shiny or expensive; a great way to spend a day is shooting hoops at a local court, or an ice-cold beer watching the game. He met life with great, offbeat humor despite many hurdles (yes, it's a track/running pun). We were hoping for a Tribe participating World Series as a sendoff, but it was not to be. Rest in peace, Marty. We'll miss you. Cremation by Ripepi Crematory. A casual celebration of life/memorial/visiting will be Saturday, November 16, 2024 11am-1pm at Ripepi Community Center, 5784 Pearl Rd. Parma, OH 44129. Please park in the lot nearest to Snow Rd. Feel free to wear Cleveland/OSU sports attire (but not required) (Marty = not a dress up person, unless necessary, and was often wearing one of these sports shirts and a baseball cap of same theme). Please no Steelers, NYY, LAL...you get the drift...or you may accidentally on purpose be asked to go.
Texting you in the afterlife Marty...GO CAVS!!!!
