Marvin Wolfson, 92, of Parma; beloved husband of the late Violet Wolfson (Pocci); loving and supportive father of Lyn (Dennis de la Mata), David (deceased), and Lee (Martha); proud grandfather of David & Helena Wolfson. A lifelong Clevelander, Marvin attended Glenville High School, graduating in June of 1944. He enlisted and served in the US Navy, effective immediately upon completing High School and served as a Medic. Marvin was on Okinawa, preparing to invade Japan, when the Japanese surrendered. He attended The Ohio State University on the G.I. Bill and earned his B.A. degree, majoring in Social Administration, Penology & Correction- Criminal Justice. Marvin met his wife and lifelong partner Violet while working as a Probation Officer for the Cleveland Municipal Court. He used to take several busses to get from the east side of Cleveland to where she lived on the west. They married in January, 1953 at St. Rocco Church on Fulton. Marvin worked for Cuyahoga County in a variety of positions, including Superintendent of the County’s Blossom Hills School for Delinquent Girls, and culminating in being an Assistant to the Director of the Welfare Department and running their Food Stamp program. He retired in 1980. Marvin had great compassion and empathy for people and always did his most to help and support those around him. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Holy Family Hospice, 6707 State Road, Parma, OH 44134 or the ACLU of Cleveland, 4506 Chester Ave, Cleveland, OH 44103. Services at the Funeral Home Friday, August 10, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery with a luncheon to follow. Friends received at THE RIPEPI FUNERAL HOME, 5762 PEARL RD.
