MaryAnn Thompson, (nee Hudkins), was called to eternal life with Jesus on Mother’s Day, May 13, 2018. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side.
She was born in Youngstown, Ohio to Donald and Roberta Hudkins. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania and she enjoyed teaching high school for many years. She also spent her young post-graduate years teaching and volunteering at both the Akron Speech and Reading Center and at Weaver School and Workshop. She enjoyed many things in life. She loved gardening with her husband. She enjoyed music, was trained as a classical pianist and also taught piano lessons. She was also an avid reader. So after raising her children she returned to work as a children’s librarian at Taylor Memorial Public Library in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Her greatest passions, however, were her family and her relationship with Jesus.
MaryAnn was preceded in death by her husband, Christopher, her mother, Roberta Hudkins, her father, Donald Hudkins and embraced son, Sean Simmons. She is survived by her loving family; children Diana (Robert) Ipser, Don (Alicia Fogal) Thompson; Lori Thompson; grandchildren Olivia (Rick Nedlick) Meredith, Gayle (Matt Fitting), Victoria Meredith and Julie Ipser; and great grandchildren Addison Nedlick, Naomi Nedlick, Jase Ipser Powell, and many other dear relatives and friends.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service to celebrate MaryAnn’s life will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at 12 noon at Heartland Community Church, 3400 Weymouth Road, Medina, Ohio 44256. Because of MaryAnn’s love for music, teaching and worship, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested to be made to Psalmist Global at Psalmistglobal.org or checks can be mailed to Psalmist Global at 1114 N. Court St., #192, Medina, OH 44256.
