It is with great sadness that the family of Matthew Joseph Chivers announce his passing. Matthew Joseph Chivers, 46 of Parma died unexpectedly on Saturday June 3, 2023. Matthew was born November 17, 1976 in Steubenville, Ohio. He is proceeded in death by his Father Donald Chivers who passed away June 20, 2012. His Stepfather David Becher. His grandparents William Vint Sr. and Dorothy (Fowler) Vint. His father in-law Michael Church. He is survived by his Mother Virginia Chivers from Carrollton Ohio. His Sister Christine Little, her husband Daniel Little. A niece Rajah Little. Two nephews James Little and Cohen Little. Mother in-law Cheryl Church, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends and colleagues.
Matt went to Carrolton schools and Edison High School. As a child Matt was a tinkerer and you could often find him taking apart the electronics and putting them back together. He had many entrepreneurships landscaping, cooking, and DJing before he found his true calling of being a diesel mechanic.
He was accepted into Ohio Technical College into the Diesel Mechanics course in 2014, he graduated September of 2015. Matthew won an internship where he started his first mechanic job at Ryder trucks. Matt also completed and obtained on the job certifications in Master Lighting and Harness, MAC, Fleet Tire Service, and OSHA. He also worked for trucking companies such as AIM leasing, Hans Freightliner and current and last job at American Marine Express.
Matt married Jennifer Lynn Evans on August 18, 2018. The two met in 2001 and were inseparable. They were called the power couple for as long as they were together. They had 22 years together. They were blessed with two children Austin Evan Chivers and Bradley Donald Chivers. Matt passed on his love of music to his eldest son Austin and his love of trucks to his youngest son Bradley.
Matt was a mean pool player where he earned the name Shakey. Matt was a generous soul and would help anyone that needed it. Matt loved to cook, play video games, and work on cars. Matt also loved setting off fireworks. In the last few years if you have been around the Carrolton Ohio area you could see his family and friends shooting off fireworks for the locals. Every year the show got bigger and better and he was so happy to bring the show to his hometown just like he did with his dad when he was a child. Matt was also a diehard Steelers fan and loved Star Wars.

Not mandatory, the family is requesting that all that knew him wear a music, band, concert shirt. The mechanics in his life wear a tool shirt or company name to send him off in memory of what he loved.
The Celebration Of Life will be a potluck where we will have food, music, and stories of his life. The family will honor his cooking by serving his famous chili that he once won second place in the Seven Hills cook off with!!
