Quiet, kind, humble, hard working, dedicated, love with his whole heart; Husband, Father, “Pop”, Brother, Uncle and friend Michael “Mike” Tanko age 64, was taken from us too soon. Surrounded by his sweet wife Jackie and his four children Mike’s earthly life came to pass on May 20, 2021. He fought with all his strength but our good God had other plans.
Mike loved the Lord with his whole heart and it showed through his absolute humility and generosity, he worked hard day in and day out to ensure his family was taken care of completely.
He always had many ways to ensure his love for his people was known. Whether it be through his firm shoulder rubs and full embracing hugs or quietly encouraging those around him, through scripture rooted messages and an abundance of “I love you’s.”
Mike loved spending time with his wife Jackie enjoying dinners out, fires on the patio, and visiting their grandchildren-there wasn’t a weekend they let pass without seeing at least one of them. As his children were growing he never missed a wrestling match, baseball game, dance recital or any event, even if it meant dancing front and center, with a smile on his face. He loved Cleveland sports, especially the Browns, the Buckeyes and trips to the beach.
Mike could fix anything, but if there was humming involved everyone knew to walk away- it was his way of voicing his frustration. He was as organized as they come, which created the balanced relationship with Jackie that was so cherished. He was a grill master and loved his yard making tractor rides and cookouts a constant across generations.
Mike will be missed by many, especially his wife Jackie of 38 years, his four children; Michael (Katie), Emily (Dustin), Sarah (Albert) and Anthony. His five precious and treasured grandchildren, Elijiah (4), Theo (2.5), Finley (2), Lilly (10 months), Giorgia (9 months) another sweet girl on the way, his many loved nieces and nephews and sisters and brothers. We are so comforted knowing Mike is no longer suffering and he has been embraced with open arms by our Heavenly Father through the blood of Jesus Christ.
