Michael Zaderecky died peacefully at the age of 106 on September 20, 2024. Mike was born on April 22, 1918, to Nicholas and Stella (Shamrock) Zaderecky in Hamtramck, Michigan. He was a preschooler when his family moved to Northeast Ohio. A 1937 graduate of the now closed South High School in Slavic Village, Mike attended Kent State University before being drafted into the Army. As a Private First Class, Mike served in World War II’s European theater, patrolling beaches at Normandy shortly after the landings. After the War, Mike served his community as a Parma City Councilman, City Inspector and long-time Parma Municipal Court Bailiff. Known as Uncle Mikey in Court, he ran a tight ship. Mike was a long-time member of American Legion Post 572 in Parma and Parma Elks Lodge 1938.
Mike was preceded in death by his dear sister, Marie Lenart (Louis – deceased), and is survived by his long-time beloved partner, Ruth Clark, and his cherished nephews, Louis Lenart (Diane) and Christopher Lenart (Alisa). He was a great uncle to Isabella, Weston and Gage and an “uncle” to many more.

Prayer service at The Ripepi Funeral Home, 5762 Pearl Road, Parma, at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Andrew Ukrainian Catholic Church, 7700 Hoertz Road, Parma. Interment at St. Andrew Cemetery. Family and friends received at The Ripepi Funeral Home, 5762 Pearl Rd., Wednesday, 4 -7:00 p.m. with Parastas at 6:00 p.m.
