Listen to Obituary

MONICA B. HUHAK (nee Schulz); beloved wife of the late Wayne Huhak; loving mother of Robin Piazza, Diane Casey (deceased), and Heidi Sathre; devoted grandmother of Christian Sathre, Bobby Casey, Jr., Krystal Grounds (Tom) and Matthew Joseph; devoted daughter of the late John and Kaetea “Katy” Schulz. Born in Germany.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all animals. She left us peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family.

Monica married Wayne and together they built a life full of love and respect for each other, their children, and their grandchildren. Their marriage of 49 years was a testament to their unbreakable bond, caring, and affection for each other. Her husband, who passed away last year, was her constant companion and best friend. Both were dedicated caregivers to each other, each resolved to prioritize the other's care.

As a mother to four wonderful children, she instilled in her children the values of kindness, hard work, and the importance of family, lessons that they always carry with them. Her love for her children was only paralleled by the adoration she had for her grandchildren. Each grandchild held a special place in her heart, and she reveled in their achievements, big and small.

Monica worked in retail most of her life. Her favorite part was the people she met. She absolutely loved talking to “her customers”. When out with the family, shopping, or out for dinner, it never failed we would meet one of her customers. When walking the dogs, she and Wayne would stop and talk to the neighbors along the way.

Wayne’s hobby was cars. For Monica, animals held a special place in her heart. Her home was never without the pitter-patter of paws, as she provided a loving sanctuary for numerous cats and dogs throughout her life. She believed in the healing power of pets and ensured that each of her furry companions was given a life of love and comfort.

As we celebrate her life, we remember not just the loss, but the incredible life she lived. We remember her as a wife and mother who loved without limits, a grandmother whose heart knew no bounds, and a friend to all creatures great and small. In every purr, every wagging tail, in the smiles of her children and grandchildren, her spirit lives on.

Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to local animal shelters, a cause close to her heart. She may have left this world, but her love remains, etched in our hearts and memories, guiding us with the same warmth and kindness she shared so generously.

Rest in peace, Monica, and know that you will always be loved, always be remembered, and forever missed.
