Moubarak “Mark” Jamil Hamame
January 1, 1957 – July 21, 2024
Moubarak Jamil Hamame, age 67 and beloved husband and father, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Born on January 1, 1957, in Tartus, Syria, Moubarak was the son of Jamil and Nasra Hamame. Throughout his young adult life, he worked at his family’s olive oil business, and fought for seven years in the Lebanese Civil War, before immigrating to America in 1982.
Moubarak had a successful career in furniture upholstery with Arhaus Furniture spanning over four decades. His creative solutions, confidence in his work, and dedication to his clients earned him widespread admiration and trust.
His loss will be felt tremendously by his devoted wife of seven years, Silva Asfour, and his two children who inherited his stubbornness and infectious smile, Laurie Hamame and Alexandra (Caleb) Prange. His memory is carried on by his brothers Antanios (Jamileh) Hamame, Khazem (Nawal) Hamame, Ibrahim (Ahida) Hamame, and Saad (Aghata) Hamame; his sisters Amal (George Maaz) Hamame, Daad (Alber Saroufim) Hamame, Liela (Bashir Kouefati) Hamame, and Rene (Suhael Younan) Hamame; and more nieces and nephews than we can count.
Moubarak has many beloved family and friends waiting for him at the gates of heaven, including his parents; his sisters Cecelia (Naser) Hamame and Souad (Yousef Kousa) Hamame; his brothers-in-law Naser Hamame, George Maaz, Alber Saroufim, Bashir Kouefati; and his nephew Bassam Hamame.
Moubarak always said: "It doesn’t matter what other people think. Do anything in your life that you want.” To all his loved ones, keep smiling and enjoy your life — he would have wanted that.
