JOAN NANCY RUSSO, age 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 29, 2024. Beloved wife of the late John Anthony Russo for 54 years; loving mother of John III (Reyne, deceased), Michael (Mary Jane), Gina (deceased) and Annette Russo; loving grandmother of Suzanne Greenlee (Dan) and Theresa Russo (Ryan); great-grandmother of Olive May Greenlee. Nancy was an amazing wife, homemaker, loving mother and a gifted woman with many talents. She was an excellent cook and baker, known throughout the city of Brooklyn for her famous homemade “Mama Russo” pizza, her candy business and the variety of cakes she baked and decorated. The most extraordinary of which she was known for was her banana nut wedding cakes that she made for many happy couples throughout the years. All of these talents were amazing, not to mention, simply beautiful. Words she instilled to her children, “Do what’s right and do what’s good. Be kind and help others. The world can always use one more kind person”. Nancy’s wishes were, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Tunnel of Towers Foundation 9/11 Never Forget www.t2t.org. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas More Church, 4170 N. Amber Dr., Brooklyn, Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 11 a.m. Please meet at church. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
