PAT A. DeLUCA, AKA Patsy, Pasquale, Puck; age 81, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2020. Pat is survived by his wife Joanne and his two children Pat DeLuca III (Ann), Cheri Belko (Dave), his grandsons Dominic Belko and Matt DeLuca, as well as his niece Annette Fante and nephews Nick and Anthony Fante. His parents Patsy DeLuca, Sr. and Lucy (nee Sfrella) and his sister Frances Fante predeceased him.
Pat and Joanne (DeLelles), high school sweethearts, celebrated their 60 th wedding anniversary last January. He graduated from Steubenville Catholic Central High School in 1957. Following high school, Pat worked on the railroads and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. That was only the beginning of a life that gave love, laughter and help to so many.
Pat will always be remembered as the most generous husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend full of love for all. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan holding season tickets for football, basketball, and baseball and sharing those tickets with everyone he knew and even those he didn’t know. He was an amazing athlete himself, playing semi-pro baseball and played basketball in college during his time at Xavier University. He enjoyed playing softball later and golf throughout his life. In his younger years, he coached CYO Basketball for St. Rocco’s and also for Corpus Christi.
Pat was a leader in all areas of his life. He was the past president of the Corpus Christi Holy Name Society and Past President of the Brooklyn High School Boosters Club where he won Man of the Year for both of those organizations. Additionally, he was the past president of The Traffic Club of Cleveland where he grew the membership to be the largest traffic club in the world in 1992. Pat was a former Director of Transportation for the Davies Can Co. Division of Van Dorn. He was involved in the field of transportation as a director and in sales for most of his life devoting much of his time to the organizations continued growth.
Pat DeLuca would want us all to be happy and to take time to smell the roses. We were all lucky to have known him.
