Regina "Gina" Swanson
April 17, 1967 – May 27, 2025
Regina Swanson, lovingly known as Gina to her family, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, surrounded by loved ones and the compassionate staff at Life Care Center of Medina.
Born in Brooklyn, Ohio, to Jean and John Swanson, Gina will be remembered for her deep love of music and singing. Though she lived with schizophrenia throughout her adult life, she was known for her bright smile, sharp wit, and her uncanny ability to make others laugh long after the moment had passed. Gina was never one to hold back and always spoke her mind—something that endeared her to many.
She was preceded in death by her father, John, and is survived by her devoted mother, Jean; her sister Rebecca (Tony) Wild of Grafton; her brothers Eric (Kim) Swanson of Parma and Ivan Swanson of Parma; nieces Rachel (Ray) Stafford of Elyria, Lauren (Jeff) Bolan of Parma, Erika (Ryan) Reschke of Chesterland, and Andrea Swanson of Cleveland; and nephews Rick (Stephanie) Rose of North Ridgeville and Ryan Rose of Elyria. Her family will hold her memory close and cherish the joy she brought into their lives.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the staff at Life Care Center of Medina and Hospice of the Western Reserve for the kindness, dignity, and sense of belonging they provided Gina throughout her time there.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date for family and close friends.
In a quiet moment, life comes full circle. For some, the journey winds down; for others, it is just beginning. And for the rest of us, the mystery continues—unfolding between what was and what will be.
