Rose M. Silvis (nee McTigue) Age 85, was called home December 26th, 2024. She was welcomed into heaven by the love of her life, her husband of 47 years, Arthur Donald Silvis (deceased) Super mom to Donald Silvis (deceased) ; Renee Miller, Lynn Garnet and Tracy Silvis (deceased.) Grandmother of Tracy (Merrit), Sean, Amanda (Andy), Anjel, Autumn and Chloe. Great Grandmother of Alexis, Riley, and Ryder. Grand-pet parent to Nitro, Athena, Trouble, and Meowza- her love and care didn’t end with her human family; she cared and cooked for her family pets too. Rose was the backbone; the matriarch, and the glue that held our family together. She was the first one each of these people called when something exciting, or horrible happened.
She truly always knew the right words to say, or course of action to take. She stood behind her family, for better or worse. She raised her children and grandchildren to be well mannered, kind, caring people. Never would she let them go without, even if she secretly had to. Thousands of memories were made sitting around that kitchen table. She woke up at dawn every holiday to start cooking the whole meal herself (we could never make it taste as good as she.) She was an avid collector of holiday decorations, and her home always felt like a store display, with more character and warmth. She was happiest to give though. She enjoyed gathering decorations, custom ornaments/stockings, nicknacks for each family member, with their own taste in mind. It’s hard to remember a day one of us left her house without taking something she’d bought or ordered for us, to remind us we were thought about, loved, and special. To have and to lose is better than never having had at all. We are all so grateful for every year, every holiday, every moment, every phone call or “fax” we were able to share with her.
Thoughtful, giving and kind- but also.. Hilarious. Introducing her to new friends/ partners was always fun. Trying to describe the lore of who our “Hussy” is before they meet was hard to do- you’d try, but tell them “you’ll see what I mean!” 10 minutes in, your friend would be shocked a grandma was so funny and quick witted in her nightgown and rollers. She’d say wild things that made everyone cry laughing. She made herself laugh too, that’s how funny she was. Never was she afraid to clown on herself. She couldn’t wait to tell you what an “AH” she was for losing her remote, and finding it the freezer, or calling out “Manda, Anjel, Autumn- ugh!” when trying to call for one of the 3. Home Depot farts will forever be an inside joke that will make our family laugh.
I hope they have country door magazine in heaven.
We know Rose and Arthur, along with Bickie, and Babies (their cats) are overjoyed they’re back together, waiting for the rest of our family to live long amazing lives, and join them. Until then, we love you Hussy. Your presence in each of our lives is not to be understated. We are thankful for all you’ve done for each of us, what you’ve sacrificed; and survived. For shaping us into who and what we are, and for the lifetime of memories we will never forget. We’re happy you’re at peace.
